Apples are not only the Germans' favorite fruit, they have also shaped world history:

From the "apple of discord" of the Greek gods to the fallen fruit that is said to have rudely awakened the physicist Newton from his midday nap and inspired the law of gravity, to the bitten company logo of a major computer and software manufacturer.

This 5.9 km circular trail takes you on a journey "With the apple through the ages". Five information boards explain, among other things, why the ancestor of all apple trees was in Kazakhstan and why the "fruit of knowledge" in paradise was originally not an apple at all. Young and old hikers alike can find out on the information boards what bears had to do with the "abduction" of the apple to Europe, how Charlemagne made a name for the pome fruit and what motivated William Tell to shoot an apple from his son's head. There are also practical tips, recipes and apple home remedies for some illnesses. For the little hikers, the mouse from television explains the topics. In addition, NABU boards and signs provide further information on the subject of fruit. Each information board offers interesting information for older hikers as well as child-friendly texts with the mouse from the "Sendung mit der Maus" for little hikers.

The trail has a total of 5 information boards and 2 audio stations. We would like to thank Frieda Richter, who looks after the trail as a volunteer trail patron. There is a small plaque with a QR code at the start information board on the fruit trail, which takes you directly to a quiz. All you need to do to take part is scan the QR code.
