Der Bergische Weg ist Deutschlands schönster Wanderweg 2024!

A large part of this stage runs alongside the Wahnbach dam.

Initially on wide farm tracks, then repeatedly on near-natural paths, the trail leads impressively close to the drinking water reservoir. The route offers charming views of a landscape with a flair reminiscent of Scandinavian fjords. Passing the medieval village of Happerschoß, the route leads to the former Seligenthal monastery and into the Sieg valley, where Hennef, the "town of 100 villages", awaits as a stage destination.

If you hike the Bergischer Weg and take photos at certain places along the way, you can collect points and receive a hiking pin. You can find more information here.

We would like to thank Horst-Heinrich Peters, who looks after the trail as a volunteer trail patron.
