stage 3: Biesfeld - Dhünn (18.4 km, 6 hours)
A fascinating panorama of the Rhine valley and Cologne Cathedral entice right from the very beginning of this stage, which leads through Eselsort Bechen to the Große Dhünn valley reservoir. At the drinking water reservoir, which is secured by a broad protected zone, you can see many different animals, including endangered species such as kingfishers, little grebes and black storks. The stage runs past the two auxiliary dams of the second largest drinking water reservoir in Germany at 81 million cubic metres to the remote village of Dhünn on the inflow to the Kleine Dhünn river.
