The Bergisch Trail

Covering a distance of approximately 260 kilometres, divided into 14 stages, the Bergischer Weg runs from the Ruhr area, through the nature parks Bergisches Land and Siebengebirge, to Königswinter on the Rhine. For some years now, the trail has held the quality seal “Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland” awarded by the German Hiking Association. Along its entire length, the trail not only takes in beautiful scenery and spectacular views, but is also very well signposted in both directions.

A variety of experiences await you along the route. The trail as a lot to offer, in terms of both landscape and cultural history: idyllic landscapes and historic villages as well as local and industrial history museums, castles, manor houses, monuments and churches bring the culture of the region to life. The Neanderthal Museum, Brückenpark Müngsten, Altenberg Cathedral and Drachenfels are just a few examples of the many different sights.
